Protein Manufacturing Capabilities at AGC Biologics' Seattle Site

Flexible Mammalian Manufacturing

For GMP mammalian manufacturing, we have multiple lines with single-use and stainless steel capabilities, allowing us to tailor our equipment to each project’s needs.

  • 9 x 2,000 L single-use bioreactors
  • 3,000 L stainless steel bioreactors
  • Dedicated expansion and harvest/capture suites
  • Separate pre- and post- viral inactivation suites
  • Ultrafiltration and diafiltration with manual and automated options

And through integrated partnerships, we can offer fill-finish in both the U.S. and the E.U., all under one contract.

Multi-Pack Scale-Out Strategies for Larger Quantities:

This site offers increased scale options by running multiple single-use 2,000 L bioreactors simultaneously, sequentially, or in a staggered manner. This method is designed for maximum scalability and flexibility, allowing us to tailor production as project needs evolve.

Continuous Processing with Fed-Batch and Perfusion

Using fed-batch and perfusion processes, we can support difficult-to-express molecules without costly scale-up.

State-of-the-Art Microbial Manufacturing

For GMP microbial manufacturing, our 1,500 L stainless-steel fermentation skid includes automated batch control, an 800 L media tank, and dedicated acid, base, and antifoam tanks. The suite also features centrifugation, homogenization, automated chromatography, in-suite protein analysis, 20,000 L of buffer storage, and ISO 6 areas for bulk filtration and fill.

Our capabilities also include:

  • Experience across a wide range of host cells and molecule types
  • Process expertise for insoluble inclusion bodies, secreted proteins, intracellular soluble proteins, and more
  • Protein analytics (GMP), IPC, and release testing
